Firmly set in the history of the area, the building was originally commissioned as the National Bank Gold Refinery in 1914. As such, the massive solid concrete walls, double height stud capped with huge timber beams and Rimu roof structure certainly fitted the grandeur of purpose. A large, light filled space, which manages to be cosy and welcoming; armchairs and a roaring fire in the winter and rustic outdoor tables and ivy covered walls in the summer. Read a book over coffee or browse the huge collection of vinyl and put on a song or two. Talk to our resident expert Mike about your HiFi needs!

Paeroa provides a perfect base for riding the Hauraki Rail Trail, exploring the Karangahake Gorge or antique shopping and relaxing. We have boutique accommodation on site; The Guard’s Cottage is self-contained and comfortable with ‘50s inspired decor and has everything one would need for a relaxing stay. The Miner’s Cabin is charming and rustic with a warm, relaxed style and a cosy loft bed.

Arrived at 1. 30pm Friday afternoon to be told the kitchen was closed and little cabinet food left!. We went to another Cafe whose kitchen was still open and enjoyed a lovely lunch. For a through town to the Coromandel and being a Friday when many are traveling to their holiday homes we find this amazing.

I ordered the Low Carb bowl with corned beef. The roast veg were fine but the corned beef was awful. The beef was the toughest I have ever been served, cut along the grain and full of gristle. The ginger crunch was nice though.

Found this amazing gem down the back streets while in Paeroa. The 70's decor is amazing. We only stopped for a hot drink and a delicious almond croissant. Good service, friendly staff and great indoor and outdoor area. I highly recommend coming here if your in the area.

The lady making the coffees and teas made me want to find the quickest stage coach out of town when approached about no tea bag with my tea and the way she dumped it on the bench beside me. After all that the scone was nice ....even though I had lost my appetite. Thanks.

Great space, and the decor and ambience are superb, especially if you are a fan of the 1970s. The coffee was very good and the cakes were probably very bad for my health but tasted amazing. Nice staff, good menu without too much excitement and the pictures on the walls are enough to keep you busy whole waiting. Ever so slightly out the way but worth the detour.
