About The Rising Tide
Here at The Rising Tide we are big on service, value, good food and good brews. We are the Cellar Door to family run and operated brewery, Mount Brewing Co ( est. 1996) and our entire team have a serious passion for craft beer. Out of our 40 taps on the main bar, MBC pours both core-range and seasonal brews from at least 20 taps, and the rest are ever changing, ever rotating guest beers from breweries around the country. Wanna taste a few? Grab a paddle of x5 90ml beakers and get experimenting with your tastebuds.
We are situated on a beautiful reserve with a huge outdoor deck equipped with a 17 Tap On-Deck Bar which opens every Friday, Saturday and Sunday to pump out a different array of cocktails! The drinks menu also caters to wine lovers and we are proud to stock vinos from some of Aotearoa’s best winemakers.
Resident award-winning street food vendor Johneys Dumpling House run the kitchen here at the Tide, and Johney’s famous dumplings are all handmade by his dumpling masters. The menu also has a massive variety of delicious burgers, bar snacks, sharing plates and 3 different kinds of fries. We have a wide selection that caters to meat lovers, vegetarians, vegans and Gluten free peeps.
We are proudly family friendly and canine friendly.

β β β β β Have been here a few times. In terms of service quality, it's a mixed bag, quite inconsistent. Might be ace, or sub-par, just depends on the staff working on the day.
The food is average, burger and chips fare. The range of beers is really good and the ciders aren't bad either.

β β β β β Delicious dumplings, fast service, great range of uniques beers and ciders on tasting paddles. Loved the variety of food and a few salad/ veg options to add to a meal. Nice customer service, heaters on tables outside and live music ?

β β β β β Quick to find us a table (less then an hour when super busy). Followed all the covid restrictions thoroughly which was very reassuring. The food was delicious and the variety of beer is awesome. Great night out.

β β β β β At least 35 craft beer taps with no need for nervousness in asking to try a few samples before deciding. As for the dumplings, before visiting we thought it sounded like a weird gimmick but they were pretty good and full sized and made more sense once we saw the dumpling 'shack' inside. Cheeseburger was also good. Loved being able to sit outside at night under the heat lamps as it had a nice atmosphere with the strings of lights.

β β β β β I like the ambience of this place. They have a lot of beers on tap and you can even do a beer taste platter if you canβt decide. Seems like they are pretty busy during happy hour with a lot of happy hour deals I see on the walls but we came here during lunchtime. Overall the food was just ok. If youβre here just for the beer and table snacks, I would recommend this place but if youβre here for the food, donβt have too high expectations. We ordered the BBQ pork buns and pork & prawn dumplings. These were my biggest disappointment because I read some reviews saying their dumplings were awesome. No they were not. The skin on the dumplings were so thick and the fillings in the buns were so little. The filling vs bun ratio on the pork buns was just sad. On the other hand, the onion rings were good and the wok begets were ok as well. Thatβs why I would say this place is a good bar spot. Not so much a restaurant spot for me.
