The fish & chips lunch special was good value. Good portion fish in a light but crispy beer batter seasoned perfectly and served with tartar sauce. Chips were thick cut and not as crispy but fresh and served with catsup, were decent. Little tart side salad nicely balanced the plate. Staff was friendly and apologised for the wait when he delivered my order to my table in the Elliot Stables communal area. Will order from them again.

Neat little shop with a tasty menu. We always go for the mussels from here as they are done nicely. Sometimes they even have the Singaporean Chilli Crab on the menu too. The staff are very warm, but they are a little pushy and subtly try and force you to buy more from them. But overall a good experience

Somewhat expensive, but very crispy chips are a bonus, as is the range available - it's surprising how hard it is to get seafood in the middle of NZ's biggest coastal city! Nice range of dishes, but it's hard to go past the fish and chips - as good as you'd get at any gastropub, though a little smaller than a number of the pubs for the same size. As usual for a Elliot Stables place, be ready to knifefight for a table, and bring your own wet wipes to wipe it down - chances are that the tables are sticky again. *sigh*

Friendly staff members, good and flavourful food. Reasonably priced with big potions. Their 'small beginning' portions are as big as a meal; and their shared portions are enough for at least 2 people.

Seafood chowder was full of large chunks of fresh seafood and even a huge scallop - great value. Unfortunately it was pretty much unseasoned, but you can get electric salt and pepper dispensers from the staff. Complimentary chocolate fish :)

I visited this place for the first time and ordered a lunch deal take away. A mix of seafood with rice for $14 on Sunday. This is not a bad deal at all. The seafood was rich, relatively interesting, and fresh made. The most disappointing part was the rice. It was so sticky that I couldn't dig into it with the (plastic) fork. WTF? Even my mother prepares a better plain rice.

Jeez the portion of the dish was just pathetic! Look at the size of the fish ($16). Trust me I was still hungry after my lunch there... my friend ordered seafood combination and they served 3mussels 2 shrimps with a bit of fish meat...Don't go there if you want a proper sized meal!

Shared a few meals around Elliot stables and the seafood platter from here was one of them. They do have a range of other items on the menu but through that this was the best option for sharing. There was a bowl of mussels in the middle surrounded by fried calamari, onion rings, prawn twisters and wedges. I quite liked the calamari and the wedges since they had the right amount of crispness. I liked the flavour of the mussels but the sauce was a bit too thick, it would've been nicer if it had been thinned down by the liquor. The platter was huge and had plenty of sauces. It was a nice fried feast.
