About The Settlement Petone | Coworking & Shared Office Space
Our story.
We’re Meredith and James Walshe - both born and raised in the beautiful PΕneke.
The Settlement was established to mitigate our own work pain points. We’d just welcomed our first child, and we wanted to be close to our baby, but we were still needing to get back to work. Not wanting to hike all the way into town and waste precious time in traffic - we decided we’d make our own workspace. Close to home, and better for the heart.
That’s when we set up our first space in Petone - right across from where we are now.
It wasn’t long before our friends stopped by for a look. They stuck around for the afternoon, then the rest of the day, and then the rest of the week - they loved working, and being, in our space so much that they didn’t want to leave. They moved in. And that was the beginning of it all.
Our backgrounds in design and fashion have lent themselves to the creation of our Settlement aesthetic, and the design of simple, beautiful, intuitive workspaces.
It’s been an adventure - navigating through new spaces, new clients, lockdowns, expansions. Throughout it all we’ve grown, connected and found our best work.

It's handy to central Petone and railway station. Great if you need a desk quickly or if you want something more permanent options! We are currently using a combination of both. Cheers

Itβs got lots of natural light, amazing designer furniture. We were lured in by the Big desks, fast wifi, meeting spaces and then found so many other benefits like free coffee and friendly co workers and that itβs dog friendly!!! (But seriously who doesnβt love a cute furry little co working friend!).

β β β β β We have been working at the Settlement since March. There are plenty of spaces for private video calls, small or large group meetings and the vibe is great while still allowing for productive work.
With a small 2 person team working with a larger team overseas, we feel like we are part of a bigger team working in the Settlement. They have great initiatives that break up the week and bring people together and working amongst Brewtowns great bars and eateries means Friday drinks are easily done!!

Ample personal working space with private meeting rooms available in different shapes and sizes. Blankets, hot water bottles and personal heating available if youβre cold. Coffee provided daily, well stocked kitchen, and bi-weekly scone morning teas. Great location close to the train station and Petone town.
