★ ★ ★ ★ ★ very unwelcoming as I walked in from the old man he was very rude to his staff and customers lacking any care in their existence in the store and made it very uncomfortable as I didn't feel welcomed he acted arrogant and very rude and his staff need to find someone nicer to work. he doesn't deserve your money younger man was very helpful though and doesn't deserve to put up with the rudeness from the older man very disappointed

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I concur with all bad reviews on here.. The owner is rude, arrogant, unprofessional and a bully to his staff. He doesn't deserve to be in business. I was about to offer him a huge collection of vintage antique tin toys and rare books (not unpacked yet) though he was so rude about the items I had unpacked, and taken in, he doesn't deserve the excellent stuff. His loss as I buy big in shops like that and will never ever set foot in the place again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really wish I had checked this feedback before engaging with this business’s online business (TM public username:"DavidHarcourt" (Thorndon Antiques). He has very good overall feedback there, but if there is the slightest issue, he cannot handle it, and will make cruel personal attacks to defend himself. Trade Me removed his retaliatory negative feedback of me due to his attempt at feedback extortion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rude. The owner is arrogant, has terrible manners, and he lowers the class of the shop from "antique store" to "just second hand junk". Presentation is everything, and that includes not being rude to customers and staff. The people who work there deserve better, I feel sorry for them putting up with such a toxic environment. From what I've seen, they would have a case for worker's compensation with the employment tribunal if they sought it. This store would almost be comically rude if it wasn't so flaccid and pathetic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time I went to the shop, I had a good experience. I thought the owner was a bit rude at times, but I still picked up a few things I really liked. The next day I went with my friend and he showed a completely different attitude. He yelled at his staff because me and my friend weren't leaving and it was time for closing. The store closed at 4 PM, we left at 4:02 PM. Didn't realize that he couldn't even spare two minutes for my friend to buy the things she found in store. The store has amazing stuff, but wondering if it's even worth coming again and dealing with his attitude.
