About Total Resurfacing Solutions Ltd
Mike Telfer started Total Resurfacing Solutions in 2001 in Petone, after purchasing a bath resurfacing franchise.
Initially the work was domestic based – resurfacing baths, bench tops and bathroom items. But it wasn't long before TRS moved into the commercial market where large hotels required resurfacing of baths and tiled surfaces, as well as undertaking other related work.
Notable early jobs were completed:
- Intercontinental Hotel Wellington
- 100+ Bathrooms sprayed (baths and tiles)
- Swimming and Spa pool
- Commercial kitchen Floor
- St George Hotel Wellington
- 120 baths resurfaced
- Claw foot bath restorations
- 75 per year
By 2006 the spray painting part of the business was going so well that it was decided to venture into spray painting joinery. This was an area that many companies were moving away from due to chemicals and compliance. A small spray booth was constructed in Stokes Valley to meet these requirements.
In 2008 TRS became licensed applicators for Allnex (formerly Nuplex) applying decorative and protective coatings to floors, walls etc.
In 2010 TRS started renovating kitchens by removing cupboards, preparing and spray painting them. This proved to be very successful for both the company and the clients, providing a quality finish at a low cost.
In 2015 TRS moved to a larger factory with a strong focus on high quality spray finishes. Our new facilities are 550m2 with 2 spray booths and a large heated drying room enabling high volume and speedy turnaround.
By the time 2015 came around, the Wellington Craft Brew Industry was rapidly expanding. TRS was involved in coating some of the major breweries’ wet floor areas. These include Panhead, ParrotDog, Te Aro Brewing, Choice bros, Double Vision, Fork N Brewer and Fortune Favours to name a few.
In 2019 TRS was awarded the top resin flooring job in NZ for Allnex. The work was done at dairy factory Zany Zeus in Lower Hutt, and involved 2000m2 of resin flooring.
