About Toukon Ryu Karate Auckland
Toukon Ryu Karate was founded in 2010 by Chief Instructor, Shihan Paul Hart.
Toukon Ryu literally translates to “fighting spirit”. This name was chosen as it so eloquently expresses the very essence of what we do, and what we are about.
Our primary focus is to equip students with the skills necessary for them to be able to defend themselves. The building blocks of successful self-defence are explained to students by reference to the Toukon Ryu Triangle. The triangle illustrates the Club curriculum, and demonstrates how the skills we teach all build on each other. We begin by teaching students basic techniques. Basic techniques are then put together to form basic combinations. Once a student has a good grasp of the basics, they are taught kata and kumite.

โ โ โ โ โ Contacted via website, no response, called the number on the website got told to go to the class based on the website time table I wanted to try for my child. We went there last Tuesday evening to the Te Atatu site but there was no class at all! Called the number again and the owner could not tell me anything helpful why there was not class but telling me to go again next week. I sent a txt to the owner to find out if this week's class is still on, no response. Purely a waste of my time and my child's energy. Very disappointing.

โ โ โ โ โ My 5 kids go to the Sherwood Primary classes. Its teaching them discipline and respect. Now they have been going for 3+ years its also teaching them how to lead by teaching new comers in basics. Plus the sensei is champion level!
