★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful trails through the bush. Big Kauri tree only about 20 min walk away and nice lookout (if the weather is good) a couple of hours walking. Loved it, even in the rain.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to start a hike to Te Rereatukahia hut. There are a few really impressive kauri trees not far down the track. Google maps shows another track here called "Rereatukahia hut track", but this track has been closed, so you have to come back from the hut the same way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want to go for simple scenic walk this would be a great place to go for a nice nature walk ether by yourself or with family and friends to see all these old trees and the true nature of new Zealand.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice little walk with some tidy young Kauri along the track as well as various other natives including Totara, Miro, Rata, Rimu and Kamahi. I couldn't make it up to the Tuahu Kauri platform because of a fallen tree but no big deal as it was nice to get into the bush in a wheelchair. Definitely needed the help of my partner to get through the Kauri dieback cleaning station with the steps involved - all part of the adventure! The track is generally a steady climb which was 95% doable with a freewheel and "fats". No steps until you get to the loop track to the platform.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice stroll down to the way up .... Then it's a straight path UP ∆∆∆ all the way up to Sentinel Rock Lookout .... Then turn and take the path to the left, and follow for about 10 minutes to reach the lower side of the rock....way up to the actual rock is closed due to subsidence.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Starts out gentle to the massive kauri, then kicks into step incline and low gear quite suddenly.
Lots of tree roots the whole way so need to watch your steps carefully. It's hard, but do try to avoid the tree roots if at all possible, and step on the dirt instead, to prevent damage. I have seen some other's photos of bluw toadstools up this track, but didn't see any ourselves. Keep your eyes peeled tho, you never know!
Probably would be quite slippery in the wet, and this is steep, so good footwear is a must. Boots not essential, but made a big difference.
Very windy and cold the day we got to the lookout so I'd recommend taking a warm layer. There's not really anywhere to sit, not a picnic destination.
Nice track, not too hard if you're reasonably fit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent track, easily accessible, wide enough to take a pushchair if you're that keen. It even has a loo.
More strenuous options available, but the walk to the kauri trees is easy and spectacular.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hike starting at Hotsprings Road. Can join onto the North South track (experience needed) and to the Motutapere hut. Around 4.5 hours from the carpark including the side walk to Sentinel Rock. Highly recommended area to hike in
