About Tui Hills
“You’ve changed all the things that needed to be changed, and kept all the things that were worth keeping.” That was the reaction of a groom who visited Tui Hills for the first time after attending several weddings at the location years before.
For the best part of two decades, the site of Tui Hills was a well-loved venue where thousands of couples married. In 2018, management problems lead to the old Cassels going into liquidation, and for several months the building and grounds lay unused. But in February 2019 the property was bought by Aucklanders Ruth Carpenter and Kevin Townsend who had already started the pop-up wedding business, Simply Wed.
In the months that followed the grounds were replanted, walls were painted, outdoor paths concreted with exposed aggregate, and bar facilities and other areas were modernised while keeping the property’s considerable charm. European styling gave way to a fresh look celebrating the location and the New Zealand style. New caterers, with a reputation for flair, came on board, plus top celebrants, photographers and more. Today it is delivering luxury weddings at an affordable range of prices.

New owners have taken over and are planning a great reconstruction on the homestead, its just going to get better!!

The owner refunded us some money but for a wedding, I really would rather the staff made sure our guests had enough food than get some money back. Microphone was requested prior but was not there, and when asked, the sound was on and off. Flower columns were part of the package but was not there on the day. The planning was awful with one of the new staff who was not knowledgeable and gave us the wrong information which caused issues. Hope this helps for people looking for a venue. I gave all the feedback to them and was told this will be resolved. Beautiful venue nonetheless.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sorely disappointed with the food at my daughters wedding last week. We had the sharing platter option. Food was stone cold, not enough to go around, slapped on a plate with no presentation at all. There were many murmurings about the food. There is also a $250 charge for any changes made to the wedding a month out from the Wedding. Suggest anyone booking this venue read the small print in the contract prior to booking. The venue is beautiful and my daughter did have a wonderful day. But based on the food I definitely would not recommend this venue for a Wedding.
