I honestly was on the verge of a nervous breakdown but the staff here were great and got us back on the road in under 2 hours when a number of other businesses said they couldn’t help.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of only two places in Turangi that can do WOFs. I got my trailer done, had to book a certain time and was done as I waited. Excellent service and communication. Trailers are done in afternoon on certain days, call them to find out when.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was Sunday afternoon 30th January 22, at around 4.30pm when we heard a loud 'clunck' coming from the engine just as we were turning on to SH47, opposite the National Park petrol station, heading towards Turangi. Everything shut down and we cruised to a halt on the side of the road. A phone call to a friend in Turangi suggested we contact Turangi Auto Centre. About 3/4 of an hour later the truck arrived and a very efficient and courteous young man, Dan, had the car on board, and we were on our way back to Turangi where he dropped us off at the place we were staying. Simon and his team did a quick check of the damage and made some suggestions for repairing the motor but we needed to be back in Morrinsville by Wednesday. Arrangements were made for Shaun to load us up and we were on our way to Morrinsville. It was a pleasant drive back with another person who knew what he was doing. Shaun was also very efficient and courteous. You have a great team Simon and thank you for the way the guys looked after us.

My car broke down on the desert road, they diagnosed the problem over the phone (just from my description and were bang on) they liaised with AA for me multiple times around towing the car, then getting it from Turangi back to Wellington. I didn't even know I was covered for a towing so without them looking into it for me I would have paid for it myself assuming that was my only option. They've had to deal with me going backwards and forwards over what I was going to do before we decided it was terminal and would get it towed home and never made me feel like a complete inconvenience asking so many questions! I cannot rave about them more (in particular Shaun and Simon). Don't think I've ever dealt with such articulate mechanics. In an extremely stressful situation they were calm and knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Even the receptionist (Aroha) was amazing to deal with. Highly recommend. Thanks guys.

After contacting the AA, Shaun from Turangi Auto Centre towed the car, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it quickly so we were able to continue our journey and catch the ferry on time. Very good service that we would recommend to anyone

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a disappointing experience with this business. They picked up my son's car, which was not going, and that was fine. They diagnosed the fault as some sensors and recommended a radiator repair as it had a small leak. This cost $1200. After this was completed, they advised that they suspected the head was cracked and did not think it was worth spending more dollars on it and that the vehicle should not be used. This is despite being told that the car had not overheated.
A cracked head should have been diagnosed earlier before the other major repairs were carried out. They refused to remove the parts that had been added and would not discount those parts.
A few days later, they decided that maybe the car could be used on short trips, so we arranged for the vehicle to be picked up and returned to Palmerston North. Another $350. On returning, we had it checked by a qualified mechanic with some 40 years of experience, and it was found that there were no further problems with the car.
They did an excellent job repairing the original problem, which stopped the car from operating, but they misdiagnosed issues that did not exist. I see they have a lot of good reviews, and I suspect that they will realise that this was not a good day for them, and they could have done better.
