★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The track is nice. Mainly going through forest. But I would definitely not recommend it if the weather and visibility is not good. You won't see a thing up there. And it is extremely muddy and slippery.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Around 1h return easy track up the hill. Great for a hot day as you can enjoy the shade of the trees. Lovely breeze at the top. Bring lunch and have it at the picnic table at the top. Views to the coast.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drqive on SH1 to Cheviot, then turn down Gore Bay Road (130 km from Christchurch). Drive 9 km to reach the beach.
The track has an open lookout with a picnic table and sweeping views of Pegasus Bay and the coastline.
There was a cacophony of abundant birdlife, with korimako/bellbird and pīwakawaka/fantail being common.
One hour return walk. The track is not steep and has gentle gradient.
