About Us
Hi there, we are Neil and Sue McGregor, we take over the operation of Villa Walton in May 2021. We are very excited about hosting adventurous travellers like ourselves. Having travelled extensively both in NZ and overseas, we know what it’s like to enjoy a relaxing time after a hard day on the tourist trail.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Outstanding Victorian house! We have been welcomed by the most caring host. The room was perfect, clean, warm, cosy and stylish. We also had an amazing dinner, the lamb was exquisite and the fish excellent. The wine lived up to the expectations, so did the breakfast... Wished we had spent more time there!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Villa Walton is a beautiful property with very friendly and welcoming hosts. They recommended great restaurants in the area and even helped us make dinner reservations while we got settled. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious, straight from their own garden. The rooms were spacious enough for two people and three suitcases, the bathroom was modern, and the shower had amazing pressure and temperature.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Haven't had the full experience ourselves yet as we only visited. But it was lovely to have met the owners and were given a lovely tour and history of the place all the same. It's beautiful what this couple have achieved in such a short time and I look forward to recommending it all the same. The B&B is a 1904 charming villa with all the modern accents, every bedroom has its own ensuite and there's a cottage too. This particular occasion it became a small intimate wedding venue indoor/outdoor options. The immaculate grounds making perfect backdrops for photos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From the moment we arrived at Villa Walton we felt at home. The hosts gave us such a warm and friendly welcome, they really go out of their way to make your stay feel special. They cooked us a really delicious, healthy and fresh meal for dinner. The house itself is beautifully decorated and luxurious. It was lovely to wake up to birds singing and the beautiful views of the countryside. The breakfast was also 5 star. We didn't want to leave! Would highly recommend this lovely place to anyone, it's incredible!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On the first day, landlord showed us the whole house and recommended us an Italian restaurant called Osteria in Matamata. Although the house was built in 1904, the interior decoration was very delicate. Each room has ensuite. They are perfectly clean. The internal sound insulation is very good and quiet. In general it is like a five-star hotel. The breakfast is really delicate and all homemade. I highly recommend Villa Walton???

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Villa Walton! Where to begin! Neil and Sue, wow! The accommodation is breathtaking, the gardens are beautiful but it actually comes down to you two (Ted and Jimmy top of course). You guys make this place absolutely incredible, the details, the food, the thoughtfulness, just everything. It’s perfect!
Tara and I had such a special and beautiful stay, getting wedding ready and being able to share that with family and friends. We ALL loved The Villa Walton. We truly couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! If you are looking for a place to stay and unwind, get wedding ready, or just indulge.. look no further The Villa Walton is the dream!
