About Voice Psychology Limited
Kate's training is in psychology, philosophy and physiology. Fascinated by neuroscience, philosophy of mind, moral philosophy, theories of thought and how our beliefs affect the choices we make, Kate studied psychology against the backdrop of classical Greek philosophy, cognitive science and philosophy of mind.
Kate was awarded a scholarship for postgraduate training at Massey University and entered into a Master's programme within the philosophy department. Here she examined how we make meaning through the words we speak and how humans use language to communicate. Integral to this research was the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein who helped us understand in his later work how culture, past experiences and our beliefs are integral to how we understand the words of others.
Further research examined the mechanisms by which human brains interpret sensory information to help us form beliefs about our world. This set the stage for doctoral research on the way the brain processes information, lays down memories and how our bodies, minds and environments form a dynamic system within which we act.
After finishing a research-based PhD Kate studied clinical neuropsychology, clinical psychology assessment, clinical psychology interventions, clinical psychopathology and then undertook year-long internship within the Postgraduate Diploma for Psychological Practice with additional concurrent training at Pain Management and Rehabilitation Services.
