About Wedding Photographer | Zahn
My journey in photography began in the 00s, helping dad in his photography business; sorting through negatives the old-fashioned way, backing up scans onto CD-rom, and tinkering in long-discontinued editing software on 333mhz iMac.
Since 2011, I’ve been doing wedding photography as a full-time gig.
It isn’t lost on me what a cool job it is. I get to see crazy places and hang out with all kinds of people.
I reside in Auckland and Mangawhai and travel as much as I can.
I drink short black coffee, cask-strength whisky, I cook meat with fire and make tacos with a lot of chilli.
My taste in wedding photography is similar to my taste in food. I don’t like it bland or boring.
A photographer at a wedding is a bit like a foodie in a farmers market. There is potential everywhere you look.
Like a nutritionally balanced meal, your wedding photos will include all the key ingredients. Family photos, speeches, all the important moments.
But like a wannabe Bourdain, I’ll document your wedding with photos that are honest, full of life, and a helluva lot of fun to look back on as the years go by.

He was very calm, professional and had a great sense of humor too, which put us both at ease. He is so down-to-earth and relaxed, which provides such a great vibe to have on your wedding day! It was such a breeze getting our photos taken, and he really added to the enjoyment of our day. For a lot of the photos, we didn't even notice he was right there. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zahn was amazing as our wedding photographer, he went above and beyond and stayed a lot later than we expected and produced a huge number of wonderful photos. He captured lots of unique view points and interesting shots and it was a dream to look back over them after the wedding. I was on the fence about getting a photographer - so thankful that Zahn was recommended and free on the day as the photos are such a treasure.

You can tell how experienced Zahn is by how relaxed he is on the day, all whilst taking control of what needed to be done. He fitted in so well with both the guys and gals and made us all feel comfortable in what is generally an awkward situation :D

Zahn’s artistic flare and passion for creating stunning moments in time is what intrigued me from the beginning his Instagram and portfolio was simply mesmerising each photo remarkable in their own way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Let me just start by saying, my husband (!) and I are both photographers, so we were very, very picky when it came to finding a wedding photographer. We stumbled upon Zahn’s website just as we were losing hope of ever finding someone whose style we liked, after trawling through hundreds of ordinary portfolios of cookie-cutter poses and muted colours. As soon as we started looking through Zahn’s images, we knew we’d struck gold. Finally, here were images that were bold, dynamic, and full of life! Shortly after, we skyped Zahn, and shared our vision for our crazy elopement – we were delighted that he was just as enthusiastic and involved as we were.
Covid-19 got in the way of our wedding multiple times, and through many (and I mean many!) postponements, Zahn was extremely helpful, patient, and flexible with our changing plans. After a few months of postponements, we made the very difficult call to go ahead with our elopement before Zahn could travel to us, but we still wanted him to bring his magic into the photos. He found us another incredibly skilled photographer who could be there on the day, who shot on his behalf, and sent him the photos for editing.
We’ve just received our wedding photos and wow, wow, wow! (Who’s cutting onions in here?!) They are stunning and even better than we ever expected. We have gone through them so many times, but we can’t stop going back again and again!
Zahn, we can’t thank you enough for all your enthusiasm, patience, and support in making it all happen; for helping us navigate all the uncertainties that come with planning a wedding in the middle of a pandemic; and for giving us incredible memories to last a lifetime!
And to any couples reading this – go book Zahn now, it will be the best decision you have ever made. Really.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zahn was our wedding photographer on 18 Feb 2022. He was incredible and the photos have come out so beautifully. We have hundreds of amazing pictures from the day and it's been a delight going back over them and reliving the experience. He was also really fun to have there on the day and let us focus on enjoying it rather than making too big a thing of the photos (which is what we had asked for). Couldn't recommend him enough!
