The Western Bay of Plenty Primary Health Organisation supports healthy lifestyles and quality health care services in our local communities.
About Western Bay of Plenty Primary Health Organisation
We help to plan, fund and coordinate healthcare alongside professionals such as family doctors, nurses and hauora workers at general practices, medical centres and community clinics.
We receive funds from our local district health board and elsewhere to provide these services.
And we do more than just care for people who are unwell – we also help people to stay healthy with free programmes such as breast and cervical screening, smoking cessation, diabetes management and immunisation.
We also provide free healthcare for 13 to 18-year-olds in school health clinics across the region, and free nurse-led health clinics at local marae and community centres.
We aim to provide high quality service and ensure everyone has access to primary healthcare where, and when they need it.
This is achieved through strong leadership and our partners working together to benefit their communities.
The PHO became operational on 1 October 2003 and has more than 160,000 people enrolled through its 31 general practices from Katikati to WhakatΔne.
