About Western Heights School
Children all learn at different speeds.
When learning to walk some babies crawled, some sat, some walked almost straight away. The important thing is - they learned to walk and they did so when they were ready. The first children to walk are not the best walkers or fastest runners, they are just the first who learned to walk.
The same applies to reading, writing, and maths. Children will learn at their own pace. that pace will not be consistent - in fact the learning often goes in spurts and plateaus. This means it is better to see National Standards from a longer term perspective. Children may drop a little behind for a while, then have a bit of a leap forward.
Parents can play a very important role in encouraging and supporting learning.
Doing so with a minimum of stress is important, as our ultimate goal is for children to LOVE learning and to want to learn because it's fun, it's empowering and it makes them feel good about themselves.
Below are some Ministry guides which feature strategies and ideas that parents can engage in with their children to support learning in reading, writing and mathematics.
The documents further below contain all the year levels in one document, translated into specific languages.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a graduate im proud to be a Western Heighter the school and community very nice had not seen a bullying since 2014 the schools changed since Mrs.Huwertson（The old principal from ???? to 2012 there's down falls and upgrades，the down falls are the Butterfly Garden which was garden filled with butterflys ，and staff that have left example：Mr.Baker （SeniorSchoolTeacher）Mr.Growen（MiddleSchool Teacher）
Ms.Hogan（JuniorSchool Teacher）
Etc
The upgrades are Better equipment ，the new Principal（Mr.Maindonald the Principal from 2013 to 20??）The school will change from then

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I finished there awhile ago I’m in year 10 now but it was honestly really fun teachers know how to handle students pretty well when they would do bad things and I loved playing on the playground and I the sports teams there were fantastic I was in every sport I could join and loved going to athletics every year sometimes like any school there was people who were rude and annoying but that’s given in any school so I overall had a great time there, thanks Mr T for being a great past year in school teacher.
