★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fluffy sand, clear water, tiny fish, trees for shade, toilet facilities, calm water in a sheltered bay. Such warm water in the shallow part. Really beautiful beach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most beautiful beaches in NZ. We saw dolphins out in the bay. Not close in Whale Bay itself. It's a perfect beach for a safe swim. There's so much shade from the pohutakawa trees. The ten minute walk is very pretty too.

Reasonably clean restrooms and some great beach and rock pools.
Highly recommend coming prepared for swimming and looking underwater.
