About Windsor Engineering Group Ltd - Dannevirke Energy Service
W. Anderson Engineer Limited
Windsor Energy has its roots in Dannevirke, New Zealand at an engineering shop called W Anderson Engineer Ltd whose primary business at the time was the manufacture of galvanised steel bridges. This was essential for the region and wider country as existing wooden bridges were increasingly beginning to fail. During this era, Anderson began importing boilers from the UK through Hargraves of Wellington, and the business installed and serviced them.
WB Easton Limited
In December 1960 the name was changed to reflect that of a longstanding employee and new owner, Bill Easton. By the 1980’s the business had produced and installed about 400 bridges all over New Zealand. In the meantime, during the 1970’s the business began its shift its focus to boilers, as the heavy machinery in the workshop tended itself well to pressure part manufacturing. In fact, W.B Easton were one of the first shops in New Zealand with a continuous welding machine that was used for pressure vessel fabrication.
The first boilers manufactured by W.B Easton were the Steam-O-Matic range under license to fabricate from George & George in Melbourne.
Shortly after this, the global leader Babcock and Wilcox Boiler Company requested WB Easton to complete the Palmerston North Hospital boiler project, and a relationship began to form.
Easteel Industries Limited
In 1984 the business was sold once again to fellow employees, and the name was changed to Easteel Industries Ltd.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s Easteel designed, manufactured and constructed boiler and thermal energy systems mainly for the dairy and forestry industries in New Zealand. In 1997 an important milestone occurred as Easteel entered into a license agreement with Babcock & Wilcox USA to design and fabricate B&W boilers.
From that point, the focus was on the B&W boilers as well as our in-house designed equipment which included Steampac™ package boilers and indirect fired air heaters. The majority of this equipment was still manufactured in the Dannevirke workshop as many of our clients requested the high quality fabrication in New Zealand.
RCR Energy Limited
In 2005 the shareholders of Easteel decided to accept a buy-out offer from RCR Tomlinson Ltd, and the company became RCR Energy Systems. Becoming part of the RCR Group allowed us to expand more into the Australian market and around the world.
Windsor Energy
In March 2019, the Windsor Engineering Group purchased the Projects, Products and Service departments of RCR Energy and formed the new Windsor Energy division. There had already been a longstanding relationship between the companies. Windsor Engineering was the preferred supplier of fans and silencers for RCR Energy boilers. They also shared many customers in the timber and dairy processing industries. The Windsor Energy division now adds to and complements the diverse and extensive range of solutions offered by the Windsor Group.
