WPMA is right at the forefront of campaigning for fair trade and competition for the NZ wood industry. It doesn’t matter if you produce solid wood, mouldings, engineered timber, panels, pulp, paper, packaging, biofuels, biochemicals, textiles or provide essential support services to the industry you are being undermined by grossly unfair trading conditions. This is especially so in the domestic market for logs.
WPMA is the only industry body that is taking this matter right to the top and demanding government action. WPMA has won the attention of government with the PM and her ministers backing our cause. WPMA has proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that serious market distortion is taking place and is looking for government to urgently rectify this. WPMA is challenging the fundamental economic policy of this country and is proving itself right.
WPMA supports the whole of the industry in this crucial campaign - wood processing and manufacturing firms and support companies of all sizes and in all of the New Zealand’s regions.
WPMA has a strong vision for the future where wood is at the heart of a future thriving zero-carbon economy. This vision is called “Renewing New Zealand” where wood processing and manufacturing is core to NZ’s economic growth, regional development and environmental protection.
