★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used to be a nice little spot for a Cider when it was The Twisted Hop, now the only option is a tap cider with Honey in it ?
Judging by the other reviews can see why it was empty on a Saturday afternoon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My local, grabone vouchers available, great service & I don’t mind the new menu, the steak is incredible and the ciders are delicious. Will continue to support. Thank you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were very pleasantly surprised to find this warm friendly pub in Woolston. Staff were personal friendly and interested. Food was cooked perfectly and presented creatively.
Well worth a return visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rated 1 star because I feel a few items need improvement. Arrived on time and approached who I thought was a staff member ( no uniform or label on clothing and everyone was wearing different) our booking could not be found but thats OK they seated us anyway. Drinks and entrée arrived and mains in reasonable time after that. The pork belly main was very dry and over cooked but battled through it given my hunger and the price of the meal. Was going to order a dessert but gave up after 30 minutes of waiting for our dinner plates to be cleared so fixed up the bill and left. Restaurant was at capacity whilst we dined and did witness walk in customers be turned away. Staff were polite and well mannered but very clearly under pressure. Thanks for your hospitality but Based on our experience dining here tonight we probably would not return in the near future

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty sad to see the twisted hop go, that place was our favourite pub in Christchurch but ever since the change in management we had noticed a huge downgrade in cleanliness, atmosphere and service. The pork dish was definitely not worth what you pay for, half the plates were dirty on the table and there was a black spec of something floating on top of my beer (I hope it was just a coffee grind)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here about a year ago (when it was "The Twisted Hop"), and it was amazing! - Huge portions, great service, and high quality food... However, with the change of ownership, there has also been a change of chef/menu; none of which are for the better.
If you enjoy warm beer out the tap; cold, dry meat, served with almost no seasoning or sauce; and rice so raw that it's crunchy, then this is the perfect place for you!!.. Prices were the same, if not more expensive than they were a year ago, but the portions have almost been cut in half.
The only things that saved this from being a 1 star, were the chicken nibbles and the service; which was a mixed bag in itself - The shorter one of the two waitresses was quite impatient and rude (barely acknowledged us as we came in, but asked for our orders literally two minutes afterwards), but the other waitress was lovely!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have dined at the Twisted Hop on several occasions previously and not always had a great experience. However, we decided to give the place another go now that it has rebranded to Wool St. My partner ordered the Ribs but a few minutes later the waitress came back and advised that there were no Ribs left. We couldn't work out why the table at the booth behind us were served Ribs AFTER we had been given our mains. When we questioned the waitress she stated they had ordered before us. However, they arrived at the restaurant AFTER we did, so that did not make sense to us. My partner's second choice - medium-rare steak - was nicely cooked on the inside, but rather charred on the outside (it tasted burnt). We were also disappointed in the sticky date pudding. It was very dense, and neither of us could actually taste any date in it. We will not be travelling across town to Wool St again.
