About 3 Stone Vets
Katie grew up in the Scottish countryside surrounded by farm animals and lots of pets. Katie was animal mad from as long as she can remember and it has been her caring nature and passion for animals which made becoming a vet the ideal job for her. Katie loves working with animals of any size and has rescued several animals and given them homes during her career.
Graduating from Glasgow University in 2008, Katie worked in Melton Mowbray in the UK in a very busy mixed practice where she dealt with “all creatures great and small”. After moving to Te Awamutu in 2009 to work as a dairy vet with some companion animal work, Katie met her now husband whilst working on farm. In 2012 Katie joined MPI (formally MAF) where her role was as a circuit veterinarian dealing with import and export of live animals, public health and animal welfare. Katie has enjoyed working with a variety of animals at Hamilton Zoo, something which she continues to do with MPI.
Katie gained her Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Cattle Health and Production: Cert AVP (Cattle) in October 2017. With a special interest in dairy cattle health and production you can be sure Katie is the right person to talk cows with.
Katie is a RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) recognised Advanced Veterinary Surgeon in Cattle Health and Production, the only vet recognised at this level in New Zealand and 1 of 30 UK Veterinary Surgeons. Katie is happy to accept referrals in any area of cattle health and production.
Katie is an animal lover and is dedicated to her job and advancing the practice of veterinary medicine. It is Katie’s passion for her work that is driving the business to be a leader in their field.

Our two dogs absolute love going to the vets and the staff aIways make them feel at ease even after an unpleasant procedure like vaccinations or taking a blood sample. On our most recent visit, they listened to our concerns before the appt and had already done some prep work before our appointment, we were very impressed!
