★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well worth paying a little extra when the results are this good. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who listen and offer valuable guidance in making good style choices. Atmosphere is electric and at the same time welcoming. You feel special and valued from the moment you arrive, and come out feeling great. Best of all, was able to replicate results at home and look just as fab every day as when I left the salon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had several people tell me how great this place is, so I booked in, even though it was more than I wanted to pay. At my appointment the hairdresser told me multiple times that she did not want to be there. I was charged for a full restyle and barely got a trim. When I discovered I still had split ends, I went back and found the man on reception quite sassy, but was booked for the hairdresser to have a look. On that day the hairdresser was extremely rude and condescending. The lady on reception that day was extremely lovely. I was still not happy with the results and had to go and get a haircut again a lot sooner than I normally would have. I will never go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was heading out of town for a funeral and wanted a really nice haircut. The hairdresser I got absolutely butchered my hair. I went back a few weeks later and another hairdresser tried to fix it up. She said the original hairdresser had basically cut my hair down to a number 2 in one spot and there wasn't much else she could do besides shaving my head.
Suggested I wear product in my hair and scruff it up to hide the bald spot.
NOT HAPPY. Didn't even offer to refund my money or give me a half price haircut next time, nothing! Just wait until it grows. Thanks Aart on St Andrew I won't be back and would not recommend you to anyone!!! Plus the first hairdresser stunk of cigarettes, YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Moved to Dunedin about 18 months ago, and have struggled to find a hairdresser that understood my requirements and followed through on my requests. Finally found Aart on Saint Andrew and have been super impressed. Haircuts that are easy to maintain myself, and my colour is exactly what I asked for - and they are cheaper than where I use to go. Would definitely recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a horrible experience here! I am a university student and wanted to treat myself by paying more than I usually would and getting my hair cut at a nice salon. While my hair was being dried (I have long curly hair) the hairdresser was clearly not paying attention as she positioned the hairdryer in a way which caused my hair to be sucked into the back end of the hairdryer. This yanked my head and was very sore (not to mention the burning smell). She then spent 15 minutes trying to untangle my hair from the dryer. In the end she had to cut my hair to free it!! This was horrifying. The man who seemed to be charge of the salon came out to see what had happened and said absolutely nothing, gave no compensation and made me pay full price for the haircut. He did not even acknowledge what had happened. I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend this salon.

Right from booking the appointment, walking in to the salon, to the finished product (performed by Holly, who absolutely killed it, her work is unreal), I felt confidently at ease. These guys are Artists! Highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good cut and colour, kind and helpful staff. BUT they charge $50 for drying your hair. This is not a blowwave ($55) but simply to put a hair dryer on your hair for 5 minutes, something you could do yourself.
This charge is not written anywhere on their website or their list of fees at the salon and you are not told about it. I only know because I queried why my fee was $50 more than expected. They tried to claim that I was actually getting a discount since a blowwave is $55, despite saying outright that the $50 was for a blowdry (completely different services). Since you can't leave without having your hair dried (to see the colour properly and as their policy), it seems to be a hidden charge. Maybe other hair dressers do this, but I had never come across it before and it seemed deceptive to me. It makes me unlikely to return here, which is a shame because the service they provided was really good.
