At Active Dogs NZ we introduce you and your dogs to the world of dog training through games. We help the dogs to make great choices by combining a variety of games to grow concepts such as calmness, focus and self-control, as well as building an overall general confidence to live in our crazy world.
About Active Dogs NZ
At Active Dogs we help you create real world results for dogs of any age, from an 8 week old puppy to a senior dog of 14 years or more.
We achieve this through the use of games in training. Making learning fun for you and your 4 legged companions.
We offer many options, from group classes through to workshops where we explore areas in more depth.
If you are not quite ready for the excitement of the class atmosphere or if you just prefer the personal touch, 1 on 1 private sessions are available where we develop a training plan specially for you and your dog to work with in the comfort of your own home. Sessions can be at your home or here on site, in a fully fenced private paddock with access to a separate field to safely run your dog afterwards.
If you are interested in taking your training a wee bit further, we offer an introduction to the fun world of dog sports. Come and try your hand at Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Scenting/Nose work and/or Flygility.
Workshops will follow for a more in-depth look at each one of these fabulous sports and specific dog training topics such as Perfect Recalls, Rocking Relationships and Calm Confidence.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I attended pups to teens training sessions ,February/March , with my 5 month old Jack Russel. Jack Russels are known for their ‘out there behaviour. I put a lot of store in Jane’s expertise and skill to at least get Gracie to start getting used to living with humans rather than bounding across fields chasing and hunting down small creatures.
I was not disappointed. I appreciated the way Jane treated every dog and owner with respect. She had an ability to manage dogs and owners with calmness and patience. I valued her knowledge about all dogs and what to expect with age and type .
Her skill and approach to training was excellent. She showed a passion and interest in what she did .balancing information, discussion and practical application in even parts.
I liked the way she gave individual feedback each week which reinforced owners and dogs progress and kept me positive .
Jane knows her dogs.she knows humans and she has a deep knowledge of dog training at all levels.
We are very lucky to have her in our area.
Recommend highly.

My confidence in helping Borri be a happy, calm but engaged dog has had a much needed boost and I am looking forward to the Scent Class next week and the Agility later on.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Only managed to complete one session, our car then had issues and we couldn't travel to the remaining sessions, we weren't allowed to rebook once issues sorted or join next years group so we unfortunately didn't get to complete anymore sessions.
The session we did complete was okay, however it wasn't anything I haven't seen on YouTube, and trying to teach in a new environment with other dogs just seemed way more difficult than at home.
I've ultimately had more success off YouTube, but then again we only managed one session.
I will add that the session we did complete took place with 2 other non registered dogs, which made me uncomfortable and I think was very unprofessional, it's stated that the dog must be registered in the rules, but that wasn't followed, however not being able to rebook when we had car issues, the rules were held too tightly.
My honest opinion is that YouTube is just as good a resource, providing you put the time into it. Seems like a nice women, but being unable to rebook when we had genuine problems, and being with unregistered dogs just, I guess we expected more.
