Fresh to the scene, ĀKINA works to foster relationships between artists and audiences. ĀKINA exists to create community and to increase accessibility and inclusion. ĀKINA is presented and curated by local wāhine Māori, Sacha Miriama van den Berg.
Elevating artists with enriching exchanges and wraparound support. Departing from traditional gallery behaviours and perceptions, ĀKINA is on a mission to explore and develop what it is to be a contemporary gallery in an ever changing landscape.
Encouraging art education, with receptiveness and development in mind ĀKINA nurtures conversations in an environment that welcomes inquiry, information and robust discussion about art and artists in a contemporary context.
