From taking a piece of steel and working it to become a sharp, beautiful, working knife that was beyond expectation. Awesome teacher and we loved the experience. A true knife making experience is what you will find at Alba knives learning every process start to finish and a knife that puts a smile on our face everytime we look at them. Cheers John. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The experience was great, it provided many opportunities to learn new skills and techniques. The pricing was excellent and the host was both funny and knew what he was doing. And at the end of the day I left with a great damascus steel knife that I made myself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am not usually gushy or vocal in recommending stuff, however, I went to Alba Knives in Hunterville. You spend a full day there and can pretty much make any sort knife you want. A couple of us did cooks knives using damascus. End of the day you leave with a finished knife with a high quality blade and a leather pouch/sheath, both that you have made yourself at a cost less than buying a decent knife. John will also make sure the finish is good even if you can't accomplish it yourself.
It was great fun too, I would reccomend this to anyone, if you are within reach of Hunterville anyway.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome day out, I spent about 9 hours at Alba knives, you can make what ever you want, nothing is a problem. With a max of 3 people at time you'll get plenty of tuition. John has the patience of a saint and as John will tell you its not work, its a passion for him. The value is excellent as well, there is no other knife course in NZ that comes close.
