★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Alfreds is amazing. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Also the absolute BEST lemon curd tarts ever!!! Their baking is fabulous and the decor along with the whole feel of the place screams family, comfort and inclusivity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not sure if it was timing but the experience was disappointing. Visited on the Sunday of anniversary day. Started with coffee and tea and looked forwarded to the website menu. Tea was some sort of benign tea bag served in a takeaway cup that never got beyond the colour of the milk. The menu was only burgers and fries with no fish, no avocado or anything resembling their advertised menu. I ordered a double meat burger which arrived cold and soggy at least 45 minutes later. No greens on the burger just a bed of mayonaise and sliced gherkins. The burger did not taste well but I ate it due to hunger and time waiting. I paid for eating the burger with a night of stomach upset. Huia is such a cool place and I was looking forward to the new store ownership and hype on their website. Based on my experience Alfred's Huia Store has followed the previous store owners and delivered a below average cafe lunch

The food wasn't too great; I ordered sweetcorn fritters, and what turned up wasn't what i was expecting at all whatsoever. it was a deep fried and pretty foul. Cafe owner should taste what they are charging a small fortune for before serving up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ had a lovely family lunch here today, there was something for everyone. Loved the calamari salad and my dad loved his huge 'matildas meal'. The staff were attentive and welcoming even though they looked flat off their feet busy. Finished it all off with a selection of their cabinet food which didn't last the car ride home. HIGHLY recommend! we will be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this place and how homely it is. Really appreciate their safe approach to the pandemic it made my immune compromised daughter feel safe which she struggles with during the pandemic. Thank you so much for that. They have a wonderful selection of food and a really friendly atmosphere. The staff were really welcoming and accommodating and knew a lot about Huia. Loved meeting Pamela! Will be back again with some friends to show them this gem of a place.
