2020December 2020 Club Marine cease offering new business policies and no longer renew existing policies.
2019Effective 31 May 2019 following a review of strategic opportunities available to our business in New Zealand, the difficult decision to exit the Commercial Motor & Fleet, Property Insurance and Public & Products Liability products underwritten and distributed by Allianz Broker & Agency (B&A) business is announced. At this time there is no change to the products underwritten and issued in New Zealand within the wider Allianz group, including: Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty; Euler Hermes New Zealand Ltd; Allianz Partners; Club Marine; Allianz Marine & Transit, Primacy Underwriting Management Ltd and Hunter Premium Funding Ltd.
2017Global Transport & Automotive Pty Ltd trading as GT Insurance ceases to operate in New Zealand as an Underwriting Agency, but rather as a wholly integrated business of Allianz New Zealand, this allows for synergies in an expanded Allianz New Zealand commercial motor proposition, making it easier for our current and new clients to find the right transport solution.
2013Allianz New Zealand Ltd transferred its insurance business to the New Zealand branch of Allianz Australia Insurance Limited on 1 January 2013. This transfer was approved by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
2000Official change in title from MMI General Insurance (NZ) Ltd to Allianz New Zealand Ltd in July 2000
1998Allianz acquires majority shareholding in MMI and MMI becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Allianz AG.
1990MMI enters into the insurance premium funding market and establishes an office in New Zealand.
1986MMI acquires the Australian operation of Allianz.
1920The company changes its name to Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Limited, (MMI).
1914The first annual report of the company showed that "The Manufacturers' Mutual Accident Insurance Association Limited" commenced its Workers' Compensation underwriting business on 30 May 1914.

Literally the most cancer thing I have ever purchased and I buy cigarettes, these guys are more toxic. Whats the point of getting insurance if they will do anything in their power to not pay you. We had a flight cancelled that was not our fault and they refused to pay for it. Scam insurance.

Can't give less that a 1 star on here! If your looking for Travel Insurance, avoid this company, by far the worst I have had to deal with. Claims take up to 2-3 months to sort. You can't get a response from anyone via email or phone. Should have gone with Southern Cross.

Dealing with Allianz was very frustrating and time-consuming. Our airline cancelled our flights home at very short notice and as we didn't have our policy on hand we called the Allianz helpline and were told that we would be covered for the new flights and could go ahead and book them. When we tried to submit our claim, however, we were told that our policy did not cover the flights and that we must have misheard the advice we received over the phone. I asked Allianz to locate the recording of the call, and to pay out our claim if it turned out that they had in fact given us the wrong advice. It took a further two months for Allianz to "find" the recording of the phone call, several weeks to admit that we had been advised to book the flights, and another month to finally agree to pay out. Throughout this entire process Allianz were extremely difficult to deal with. I would often have to send several follow up emails before I received a reply from customer service, and would not have received any money from Allianz had I not persisted in pursuing my claim over a three month period. The overall impression I got from my interactions with Allianz was that they were not concerned with the happiness of their customers.

Worst insurance company I have ever used. Red tape and bureaucracy, they don’t care about the health of their clients, just the bottom line at the end of the financial year. Slow responses, they claim that they can assess the claim within 10 working days but after 10 working days I received an email saying the my needed another 10. Will never use this company again, they were one of the cheaper insurance companies but in the effort it takes to make a claim I wish I’d paid someone else more to do a better job.

I had everything stolen from me overseas. I really counted on Allianz, they let me down huge. I travelled for 6 months so I had practically my whole life with me and when everything was taken I was gutted. I thought I had reassurance purchasing travel insurance, only to receive a kick to the throat from these people when trying to make a claim. They stuff they ask is so unrealistic its unbelievable. There is no chance I will ever see my money or my belongings again in my life. So I ask myself why did I even bother getting insurance with these guys. I practically have to restart my life with the stuff I lost and they dont seem to care and aren't helpful at anyway at all. Please for the love of God do not go with these people if you actually want a company who takes care of you. Never ever ever again.

I'm not gonna bother posting about my experience with Allianz. You simply need to read other reviews here to see how utterly terrible the are as an insurance company. Can't wait for the lovely corporate "please email me with your experience". Just leave it out this time aye? You know your company is bad, otherwise you would have tried to do something to get better reviews on Google wouldn't you. Avoid at all costs.

Be very wary of entrusting your travel insurance to Allianz. Based upon my personal experience it seems that they are only too happy to take your premium but ever so reluctant to pay in the event of a claim. I purchased Travel Insurance in good faith. A policy that provided for compensation in the event of cancellation due to a medical condition arising that prevented travel. Unfortunately this occurred. A medical condition arose that required cancellation. This presented on a date prior to Alliance invoking the Pandemic Clause of their travel policies. Nonetheless, they declined to pay on the basis of the subsequent Covid Pandemic that (conveniently for them) also prevented my travel on the departure date. I am aware of others whose travel insurers have paid under similar circumstances. Had there been no Covid due to my medical condition I would have been unable to travel. In these circumstances Allianz would have had an unambiguous liability. It appears that the function of their Claims Consultants is to find reasons to decline a claim. Whilst they have an internal Dispute Resolution Process the function of this process again appears to be for the purposes of delay, obfuscation and finding reasons or excuses for refusal. You have been warned!

AN absolute joke! I have spent a total of 300 minutes of international calls on hold with STILL no response, sent four emails and NOTHING trying to settle a policy issue. Will NOT recommend, I hate to see what happens if I actually need to take out a claim, good luck, haha! Been sick to my stomach for a whole week trying to get through to sort out a very urgent policy matter. Furious! Non existent service, why do we pay so much money?!
