About Aorere College
We have a fantastic buddy system where each international student is placed with an Aorere student who helps them find their way around the school and introduces them to teachers and fellow students. Our buddy system is very popular with our international students; it helps them feel welcome, practice their English and make new friends. This also allows a smoother integration into our school and more opportunity to talk with our local students. This might be in the classroom, socially, on the sporting field, or in cultural areas. International students have a lot to add to our school so we need them to be talking to our students and as they do, their English will develop even more.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All the stuff I learned in bio was trash and it didn't prepare me for the courses I am studying now. I believe if the school changed up the ciriculum with the science subjects, specifically biology, then I think it can prepare the students for the best.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ao was a alrite school I am a former student my last year was 2011. I did got bullied a lot in year 9-10 for no reason cause I nva do anything to others which it was not nice I kind of did got bullied in year 13 loved the girls cause they were nice and not bullies I did felt like I wasn’t comfortable in the school cause of bullying. When I was there they didn’t had many problems but 3-4 years ago they had a big fight they had 10 cops cars and a ambulance and the prefects didn’t do nothing. i reckon the good school that I be fine and comfortable probably be like howick or botany downs. ✌??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ People say it's a bad school and it has a lot of problems. Being an ex student here it actually does not have that many problems. It's the students who decide to be successful or not, every other school is the same and will provide the same results depending on the student. Other than students there are some teachers who put in that extra effort to see you succeed and stay in contact with you even after school.

Most of the teachers I had throughout the years could care less about the students learning and most of the time they would barely be teaching because they are busy picking on other students. However, some of the other teachers that I had understood the importance of education and motivated me to do my best when I felt like giving up, so shout out to them. Still happy I’m no longer there anymore though...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great school for students who are self motivated and who fits into a traditional system of learning. Teachers will invest and provide support to students who prioritise their learning but I am not quite sure about those who are struggling. I started here in 2005 as a year 12 student and it felt like I had to prove myself as a learner to be taken seriously. Lots of opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities. Music department is solid!!
