β β β β β Nice place but foreign hairs on shower wall and floor, shower head needed replacing, overhead lights didn't work, great staff tho, more run by the hostel.

β β β β β The staff at reception were ok but the staff in house keeping were amazing, friendly very easy to approach for anything in my room. The room I was in was clean and tidy but if I were to critique, it needed some work maybe a facelift is needed on the bathroom.

β β β β β Hair on the bathroom floor.... it was someone elses. Cobwebs in bathroom plus ceiling was dirty and no shower curtain. I was looking forward to a spa bath after three days driving so chose to stay here but the plug was broken so couldnt have one. On the other hand the host was great plus they offer fresh soup at 6 pm and a light breakfast. I wont stay here again. 2 star rating for hosts enthusiasm only.

β β β β β Really lovely place! Its clean, it's got a good vibe to it and the people who run it are really really lovely.
The receptionist was so lovely and understanding, and spoke multiple languages which is good for international guests.
The rooms are really nice and well put together with a welk stocked kitchenette and clean bathroom, with a super comfortable bed. The internet connection wasn't the most stable, though, and the lamps next to the beds didn't work which is a bit of a negative.
Over all, really great place which stands well against the negative reviews!

β β β β β I had to book the Paradiso Apartments last minute and was a bit worried with some of the reviews in the past month. But the room is very clean and vacuumed. Yes, the place is slightly run down but that doesn't take away from it. The staff, especially the cleaning lady, are super sweet. Has cable and great wifi. The pool looks busy but that's what happens. Great location into town. I'm really happy with this!

β β β β β Negatives - Could be so much better. The room was infested with ants. The shower heads need to be cleaned so the water runs true. Rooms need to be vacuumed more regularly. Stairs to upstairs apartments need to be larger and less slippery in the rain.
Positives - Comfortable beds. Milk, tea, sugar etc topped up daily. Monday to Thursday cleaner ensured Teddy was placed carefully back on the bed when remaking the bed. Dishes were done for me (even though I would have done them it was a nice treat). Staff are lovely and although they have no ability to much more than register you and take your money, they do their best to help if they can.

β β β β β I had tried ringing from two days prior to my arrival to no avail. No one would answer the phone. Kept going to voice mail. I left a message, plus sent emails with no response. I was going to be arriving late, and was wondering about afterhours check in. Arriving into Nelson after 9pm, having tried to ring them all day, I was unsure if would be able to actually get into the room I had paid for. Check in was at the Backpackers behind the complex. Lots of drinking going on by the looks of it. Managed to find a afterhours number, which was answered. I tried to ask the gentleman when he checked me in about why the phone has been consistently neglected for the last few days. Didnt have a answer for that one.
My room was tasteful, but not clean. There was hair in the bedding and through the bathroom. Yuck!! Even the mugs in the kitchenette were stained.
Parking was a nightmare for the 4 nights of my stay. There are only a few parks outside the units, with the rest having to park on the street. However the parks on the streets fill up quick with local residents. One night I had to park over 250m down the street. Not ideal.
The shower pressure was really really dreadfully poor. And towels seemed old and worn out.
On a positive note, there was no noise from the Backpackers behind the motels, and the units appeared to be double glazed. There was a Air Conditioning unit which worked well.
While the room rate was not too bad, cleanliness standards need to upped big time, and answer the phone!!! This place has potential. And it would not take much to make the place actually really nice.
