★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you near Waimate, you really should detour and check this out. Sure it has a great history - but this is such a remarkable piece of 100 year old architecture to find in New Zealand - and symbolises how great the rural New Zealand economy once was.
There have been attempts to restore this building for years, and they (so far) haven't got anywhere. If it is ever fixed, it will be even more beautiful.
