★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Historic area/wharf. Continuation of Waihopai Walkway and Stead Street Loop walk. I need to visit it again to see if the wharf has been made safe yet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The last piece of the remaining wharf has now been fenced off as unsafe, and I expect it will soon go the way as the rest of the wharf with just the stumps remaining. Still there is the replica of the wooden tracked train, but a long way out to go and see that. Soon I fear it will be RIP.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's okay. There is a walk around the estuary & lake. There are many sea birds there. We caught a 3-4ft eel there. We were told not to eat anything from the lake, only the sea side of he bluff.
The actual wharf at the city end, where the sea scout hut is derelict & is falling apart . It's fenced off. We fished this end at high tide from a cement boat slip.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great old wharf with a lot of history attached to it. Interesting to read the about the old sailing ships that unloaded and reloaded. Replica of and old wooden railway that served the area as well. Estuary walk has some more interesting sites.
