I did the week-long mountain technical skills course. Our guide had a lot of knowledge and was willing to share it which was awesome.

Completed the Seven Day Mountaineering Skills course up at Tasman Saddle Hut with Whitney as the guide. Great FOOD, great company, and learned so many new skills for my tool belt in the mountains. Couldn't have asked for a more knowledgable and excellent guide, he gave us tools to problem solve, rather than lectures that are easily forgotten. I ate better in that hut than I have in months.

I had a fantastic experience with Aspiring Guides, tackling the Gillespie Pass & Rabbit Pass route. While I have hiked extensively before, I was glad I chose to go guided for this trip. Our guide, Adam, was very confidence inspiring and generous with his knowledge. Plus he was a great chef! I was also fortunate that my trip companions were like minded people and we had a wonderful time together. I'll definitely be back to do more trips with Aspiring Guides.

Epic adventure with Aspiring Guides. Will was a guru and relentless in his teaching. So much learnt over the 7 days and now time to put it into practice. Cheers, guys

Inspired and coached by Pat, the two of us engaged Aspiring Guides, Will and James, to help us attempt Mt Aspiring. Challenged by a very short weather window, we summited in the most beautiful conditions. What an absolute epic adventure. Definitely in my top 5! Every bit of training was helpful. This is not a casual trip. We will be back for more. Will and James are both experts and gentlemen. A very big thanks.

Brilliant Gillespie-Rabbit guided trip in Mt Aspiring National Park over the New Year. The logistics managed by Aspiring Guides was superb... enabling big adventures with mainly fresh and delicious food, without huge heavy packs. We had a small group with lots of laughs. Despite our wide experience we all learned heaps from our talented and chilled guide, Adam. His local knowledge and experience is superb especially around river-crossings, navigation and delicious cooking :). Thanks team!

Really poor service, would highly recommend looking elsewhere. I was booked in for a ski touring trip with Aspiring guides. We were due meet the night before departure in the office. I phoned to ask whether I should rent my gear that day as the weather was really poor and looked bad on our planned departure day. I was told to rent the gear that night. and not to worry. I queried why we weren’t waiting a day given we had a bad weather day built into our itinerary. Aspiring guides tried to deny we had a weather day until I went back through our emails to show we clearly had one. I arrived to the office to an uncomfortable situation with the guide clearly unhappy that both of us on the trip wanted to delay our departure due to bad weather. It then transpired the reason for the trip to start in bad weather was the guide had another booking on the Friday. We were pressured to do a day touring in the resort in poor weather on our original departure day date. Eventually after some considerable wrangling the company conceded to the agreed poor weather day. The guide in the subsequent meeting, though clearly experienced, made it clear he did not know the terrain in the area we were going to or the equipment list aspiring guides provided. We then had the massive misfortune to go into Level 4 lockdown on our rescheduled departure date. We were offered no help getting to our rescheduled flights. Whilst the ski shop were I had rented my gear offered a full refund with no issue at all. Aspiring guides only offered a 20% refund on a trip that didn’t run after I chased them up. They seem to be the only company in any sector not to come to some kind of reasonable accomoadation, particularly as I didn’t request a cash refund only some kind of reasonable credit for a future trip. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I'm on my fourth trip with Aspiring Guides, and I wouldn't consider going elsewhere. They offer a great selection of guides, super flexible and accommodating approach to organizing climbs, and cater to every skill level (even absolute beginners). The team (Carla is the absolute best) are very friendly, and make you feel at home. I cant wait to go back :)
