About Atmospheric Equine
We are based on a farm in Dannevirke, 1.5km away from the town. Recently we have just had a 60x30m arena built with a riversand surface. A turn-around bay and gravel parking area is next to it, giving easy parking for trucks and floats. This will enable training to occur year round. We have been doing some re-fencing on the farm to make smaller individual paddocks for horses. The arena is available for use year round, and farm is available for riding over also, but not in winter.
On 9th Feb 2013 Richard and Natalie got married, meaning Natalie Thomson is now Natalie Short. Atmospheric (Blackie) was much cooler than a wedding car!
Natalie
Natalie is a passionate horse rider and trainer with over 20 years experience as a rider at both a pony club and ESNZ level. She progressed through the Pony Club system from an early age and received her A certificate. She represented New Zealand in the NZPCA eventing champs international class in 2005, and represented the Wellington/Hutt Valley/Wairarapa area in NZPCA dressage champs for 10 consecutive years. She also represented her club and branch at NZPCA show jumping champs (including wins) and zone games for many years, and has successfully competed at show hunter, including receiving placings at the Horse of the Year in championship classes. She has competed around the North Island and in Australia and has had wins at the Horse of the Year competition in Hastings. She has a Certificate in Science and Technology, a Bachelor of Science majoring in Animal Science and Physiology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Science majoring in Animal Science from Massey University in Palmerston North. She also currently works running the farm in Dannevirke with Richard.
Dressage wise recently Natalie has been competing in Advanced level dressage with her favourite mount, Atmospheric. She has also been competing at Elementary level with her young (6 years) mount Golden Conquest. In 2011 she won both the National and International Senior Rider classes at the Horse of the Year show. She went on to represent NZ in Australia, placing 4th in their showing Nationals in the senior rider class on a borrowed mount.

Richard
My job is chief organiser. I focus on building our business and thinking up new directions to take us in. With a full time job in management I use my spare time to help Natalie where appropriate and keep the books square and in the black.
I have been riding for the past 10 years, playing polo and more recently eventing with our young horses.
