โ โ โ โ โ I have heard a lot positive about this school. It is arguably one of the best school in Auckland as they encourage studies and sports equally. Tough to get into school unless you live in the neighborhood or your parents or relative studied in the school.

โ โ โ โ โ Just don't come as an international students. You don't feel like you are being cared that much from the stuff members from the department here compare with my previous school. If you want a peaceful and friendly environment of being an exchange student at school, I strongly suggest you can go somewhere else no here.

โ โ โ โ โ My nephew attended this school and If I get the fortunate opportunity to send my young men here in a decade I certainly will.
They have a "no frills, dig in, work hard and reap reward" attitude, but still manage to focus and cater teaching to each individual student. Pretty impressive that for a state school, the quality of education it provides is far superior to well-established private schools in the Auckland region.
I remember being in awe of how well prepared students from Grammar were back in the day when I first attended uni, I can positively say this superior quality of education still exists to this day.
Thank you for offering such a high standard of education, the fact there is no BYOD program and Grammar is the leading state school and one of the leading schools for both university entrance and scholarship attainment is a prime example of such academic rigour.

โ โ โ โ โ I wasn't even in the school yet but my current experiences has been terrible!
The instructions and emails they send out are unclear and confusing. The school spent like 1/4 of the form 3 entrance speech talking about donations. I mean I'm going to have my first day at AGS in around a week and I'm already scared, pls send help.

โ โ โ โ โ The traditional aspects are a problem in most members of the public's opinion. The times have changed and the school should too. For example, only prefects are allowed to wear long trousers while all other students are only allowed to wear short trousers even during the freezing winter time. It can be quite hard for students to focus on learning while they are not warm at all.

โ โ โ โ โ The school needs to seriously consider and accept feedback from parents, students and the wider community. The stress associated with class streaming and so many exams at this school can be quite harmful for most of the students, and their old-fashioned education approach should be changed to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the students. Other than that, I can't see any reason why can't the school allow their boys to wear long trousers instead of shorts given that most members of the school community want long trousers included as an option for their uniforms!

โ โ โ โ โ As a former student at Auckland Grammar myself, my advice is for parents and students to avoid this school and never consider it. The school is bad from a variety of perspectives, including:
1. A leadership team that is not taking any feedback or suggestions from the school community, including the parents and students. The school is not willing to adapt or make positive changes in any way. They are stuck in the past in terms of approach of teaching and school management.
2. Some of the staff members showed aggressive behaviours towards the students, and their attitude to students is negative overall. Some teachers don't care about the mental health of students at all.
3. The school's class streaming system is quite harmful for the average students and students with lower academic grades. Their confidence and mental health is at much higher risk as a consequence of the streaming system.
4. They don't have a proper winter uniform for the students, which makes many students freezing in their short trousers and not able to concentrate on learning during the winter months. It is just unacceptable that the students are not allowed to wear long trousers during winter.
5. The school's facilities are getting old and insufficient, including shortages in IT equipments and issues with having an old & dirty toilet.
