Rooms are hardly cleaned. Poor communication with staff. Cleaners have thrown food away when still staying in room. Security staff are pretty boy thugs looking for a fight. Wouldn't recommend place to anyone

The building administration doesn't give a damn about you or your complaints. It's dirty, it's strict and the apartments all have some problems, big or small. A lot of people are complaining about a constant ringing sound at night time, a lot of us arrived to a dirty apartment and the building is just faulty in general. Especially the elevators. The only positive thing is being social.

I am extremely disappointed in the state of the room I am in. At first glance I thought I saw a bit of dust on the desk so I thought I'd just buy some wet wipes to give that a wipe. Come to realize, the whole desk, shelf, and wardrobe was filled with layers of dust. The dishes provided were no where near clean. I don't mean just the odd lipstick stain either. I mean dried food clearly still on the plates and what looked like dry tea or coffee still in the cup. As if an attempt to wash them was never made. The right side of the door had turned black with finger marks from where people had opened it. Lastly, the side of the desk that's by the bed was covered in spots of red and yellow lumps of dried, who knows what.

Good view from the upper floors, the location and social life are the only good things about the place, apart from that there are lot's of things to be improved. 1) There is often something not working. Elevators, washing machines, dryers for start. 2) Heaters in rooms are far too weak to make the room comfortable when a bit cold (so suggesting turning it off for energy consumption reduction is out of question) 3) Kitchen equipment is extremely poor, there wasn't even cutting board or normal knife in the appartment. The common kitchen downstairs has to be booked which is quite annoying, especially considering it's really not worth it as the equipment is not much better, just very basic stuff at your disposition. 4) While some staff members appear seems helpful, I asked them to resolve an issue in our appartment cca five times, for two months nothing happened, no sign of change and the issue remains unresolved... 5) Other problems with the building like water leaking inside even with closed windows. It is nice being offered small things such as candies or free meal from time to time, but that just doesn't make it worth the money - far too expensive for what you are getting here. Not really recommended.

these apartments always smell weird, no matter what you do. for student accommodation, the prices are extortionate and its disgusting. rooms are stuffy, doors automatically slam, and you can literally hear everything from above and below. move to the suburbs and save yourself before its too late...

I was a student at AUT and stayed in the halls over 2020. All I can say is if you don't mind an apartment that has a constant smell and having your bathroom flood twice a week then yes WSA is a great option. Yes we did ask management if they could fix our list of problems with our flat yet after 10 months of nagging them nothing was permanently fixed. Another reason why I wouldn't recommend WSA is the price for what you are receiving. If I could redo 2020 I would pay the same price or less for a far greater flat just outside of the city centre. Another problem i am still facing with WSA is the lack of responsibility. For months I have been calling, emailing and talking with management to try get my rebate back which they are almost refusing to do. I am not the only one facing this problem either, multiple of my friends who stayed at WSA this year are also in the same position as I am. To future AUT students don't make the same mistake as I did, flat somewhere else. You won't regret it.

This review is considering the absolute outrageous price for the state of these student apartments. Management don't care about you or your needs at all. They do all they can to save money and cover their own backs. Many things are stated to be provided for students, such as kitchen ware and garbage bags, but is never provided. The general state of the apartments is absolutely terrible. Old building with bad floors. The suction in the kitchen doesn't work. There is no heating in the rooms besides from a towel heater that management mention as your "heater", it gets very cold in the winter. The washing machines in the building state "warm water wash", but I have been told by management that none of the machines have warm running water and that, quote, "people don't wash clothes in warm water in New Zealand" (do bacteria not work the same way on the southern hemisphere?) I like being close to the university and I appreciate living with fellow students and exchange students, but things need to change. Disgraceful.

Good option for AUT students to consider for accommodation within the campus (or within walking distance to the university). Very friendly staff (most of the student advisors/staff are AUT students staying in WSA itself). One will enjoy staying in this place if they get friendly flat mates (else it'll be nightmares). It all depends on how you influence your good/bad qualities to your roommates. The only issue is during the summer stays - it's quite dead or not lively as most of the students/occupants are away on vacation. However, it's very much affordable during the summer stays ($210/per week for 2 months).
