About Awapuni Nurseries Limited
History
As a bold and independent Dutch emigrant, Ton Ham left his native Holland in 1960 to come and settle in New Zealand. He initially found work on a poultry farm and then served a brief term making cheese and butter at a dairy factory in Palmerston North.
After meeting fellow Dutchman Henk Brookes, Ton went to work at a small business owned by Henk called Brookes Nurseries. Ton, who was eager at this stage to run a business of his own, negotiated with Henk and bought the nursery from him about 12 months later.
After a few years, Ton decided to invest in a 10-acre plot of land a few kilometres south of Palmerston North. This land would be vigorously developed and transformed to house the nursery as it appears today.
In the mid-1990s Ton and his wife Lea sold the business to sons Paul and Henri, who are dedicated to continuing the high standard of quality and service set by their parents.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have brought seedlings from Awapuni Nurseries and they are always the best quality, great prices and love the points you can earn to get a free bundle and the deals going on, I have brought vegetables and flowers from them and they are still going strong. A couple of times they have missed a few things in my order or have given me wrong seedlings but they always replace or you are given points, not every nursery I have brought from does that so that is a big plus for me. Will definitely keep ordering seedlings from them as I have found them to be better than warehouse or mitre 10 seedlings, And I have found to always have more than 9 seedlings in my bundles which I love and they all arrive in good condition, I will always recommend them as the go to place to buy your seedlings.

The delivery is always quick and the quality of plants is good but what lets them down is that although labeled as what varieties I've purchased the plants are often a different variety. For example I bought Petunia - Raspberries earlier in summer but what grew were white petunias.
This is annoying so it is something they could work on.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm so impressed with the seedlings I purchased from this great little business and I'm sure it's down to the wonderful start they received at this nursery. The rich reds and stunning greens of my lettuces and mesclun absolutely speaks volumes. Looking forward to shopping online again.
For the best results I recommend preparing your garden or containers as soon as you purchase online, so you can feed and plant seedlings straight away when they arrive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Being a keen all year round vege gardener, I always buy awapuni nursery plants which come in bundles of 20 for spring onions and leeks, while cabbage, broccoli, lettuce etc come in a bundle of 9, the management and staff are excellent to deal with,fill out your order form pay online and it will be delivered overnight, lf you don't want to order online try your local mitre 10, bunnings or the warehouse, plants are wrapped in paper and labeled, there are also flower plants available , happy gardening
