β β β β β Multiple large camping areas, with picnic tables, for tents and campervans. Coastal views from all areas as well. Be sure to do the Godley Head Loop track for more coastal views as well as historical military artefacts.

β β β β β Fabulous spot full of military history. We booked to stay 3 nights in campground and ended up staying 5. In addition to the history there are tons of walks, great views and beautiful sunrises.

β β β β β Awesome hike in from Taylorβs mistake, can camp anywhere you want on the sight, fresh drinking water and plenty of walking tracks. Awesome WW2 remnants scattered all over the heads, great views, only a 4 star due to no toilet paper for 2 days and had a very strong smell. Will Definitely be back once they get the asbestos sorted out

β β β β β The single lane road in requires care and a light foot. Every tight blind bend reveals another driver in the middle of the road, or cyclists out enjoying the views.
The camp site itself is beautifully flat, well maintained and quiet.
Rather exposed to the elements but that adds to the beauty of the almost 360 degree views up an down the Eaat Coast.
Water taps & clean toilets available, The DOC ranger lives on site.
Best bit is its less that 30min from Chch for that last minute trip away.

β β β β β This campsite is very basic with its best feature being the view. It offers public toilets and some picnic tables. There isnβt a lot of level ground and the road getting in and out could be tricky in big vehicles as it is one lane a lot of the way.
It has a couple or good walking tracks in the area, so if that is your thing, it is worth the trip out.

β β β β β Awesome place! Very basic facilities but beautiful surroundings, an amazing view from the nearby lookout and a wide camping ground with lotsa place to choose a nice spot for your own. It was one of our favourite places to stay in NZ. Online paying via CamperMate was easy and the confirmation e-Mail came within minutes with the code.

β β β β β Isn't this the most beautiful walk in Christchurch? We spent more than 3 hours here - which didn't feel like 3 hours at all! We did not start at Taylor's Mistake as recommended in the DOC website, instead we parked at the DOC campsite and walked the loop to Taylor's Mistake. We doubled back from the same way we came from because we didn't know which loop track to take when we arrived at a junction ?? The view was absolutely breathtaking, with so many different viewpoints to stop and take pictures. If you are in a hurry, there were also a lot of "shortcuts" amidst the grazing land, but be warned that they're really steep and you could be panting for a long long time. Lots of sheep and lamb to feast your eyes with. There was also a spot where we went down to see heaps of huge boulders and rocks and black sand - it was the most risky part we went to. Definitely recommend that you bring some food to sit on the grass and eat something because we did not, and had to walk on empty stomach and skipped lunch. We did not expect ourselves to spend so much time here. Definitely recommend this walk if you have the time! Oh, and we went on a cloudy day, so we were sheltered by heaps of clouds even though the whole place was waaaay exposed. Remember to lather generous amount of sunscreen! :) Cheers!

β β β β β What a special place to go and stay and right in amongst an important place in the history of Christchurch.
The road to get here is very narrow and windy, and in a 4 berth campervan, itβs absolutely drivable but with total caution. The road is shared with other drivers, walkers, runners and cyclists so be prepared to hug the absolute edge at times.
There are some incredible views to be found within a short walking distance. The bathroom was clean and tidy and there was plenty of room when we arrived.
