Ayrlies - Garden and Wetlands, Auckland, New Zealand - Ayrlies.co.nz

Situated in the gentle rolling country of east Auckland, Ayrlies is one of New Zealand's best known gardens. Characterised by sweeping lawns and informal but detailed plantings by ponds and waterways it has been described as the quintessential New Zealand garden

Ayrlies - Garden and Wetlands, Auckland, New Zealand - Ayrlies.co.nz

“Ayrlies is special. It transcends the good taste and horticultural confidence that is typical of so many of Britain’s grand gardens… I have never seen such a wide mixture of plants in one garden and I have never seen colour and plant association handled better. I left elated by the scale and vision and dream-like intensity of colour and size.”

A wonderful place to spend several hours admiring nature. Outstanding gardens. An incredible amount of effort has gone in to creating these magnificent gardens.

Highly recommended. I've seen lots of gardens all over the North Island of NZ and this one is probably the best.

A great place to visit, perfect for spending time with your family and creating good memories. It was like you are transported into a magical place- the inviting cool soft whooshing sound of the water features, wonderful fragrance of roses, spectacular scenery beyond and so much more. We really had a wonderful time at this truly very inspiring place.

I learned about the private garden Ayrlies in a travel magazine while flying a year ago. The 82-year-old garden owner Mrs Beverly McConnell's descriptions in her book "My Story, My Garden" deeply attracted me. Covering an area of 14 hectares, the scene in front of us today is hard to imagine that before the 1960, it was just a dairy farm with no trees.

Beautifully kept. Gorgeous views. It has an amazing story . There beautiful naturally growing parts and some very well manicured ones too. It's cost 20 dollars, better if you can take cash. You can take a picnic there are several beautiful spots with lovely views and table and seats where you can have picnics. They dont have a cafe, but there are several choices near by. We went to lovely lime tree which is very close. Visit the website before you go

This place is amazing! It is very big and absolutely breathtaking. It is my favourite time of year, when the leave start to turn colour. It's an awesome display. I do feel that $20 is quite steep, although I do understand that maintenance of such beautiful space would cost quite a lot. Unfortunately if you're a small family, then it is very costly. The top garden and wetlands are free to enter. I do wish there were a bit more benches. I absolutely recommend it.
