★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nightmare experience! This was our honeymoon accomodation for 3 nights which we paid $500 per night. The following day we had a very small gathering for our family and the owner decided to come around and abuse all our guests multiple times! Then I took some phones from my phone of our wedding vehicle and she started screaming at my newly wedded wife from that deck that photos are banned from this property and are copyrighted. Copyright! You can’t even copyright a location. That was only the half of it but the full story would take too long. Avoid this place

After getting off a plane from what I call "hemisphere travelling," I arrived at Bethells Beach Cottages. Instantly everything felt perfect. Perfect place in a perfect country. I did not know that Expedia made a huge error, and the cottage we were to stay in was double-booked. It was John and Trude who spent the rest of their afternoon preparing a 'not ready' cottage for us to stay in instead of turning us away. They were GENUINELY empathetic to our situation. Their hospitality was outstanding, and even if we didn't sleep in the lap of luxury as planned, all of their effort and understanding made my first night in NZ amazing. I have told them I will return, and I would like to request the "unfinished cottage."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing views, tons for kids and adults to do, one of the best Auckland weekend escapes you can get and at a reasonable price too. Hosts are lovely and the scenery is to die for. You would never guess you are 40 mins from Auckland!

The stuff are super nice and kind. One staff offered me a drink and she delivered it. The food was nice. The view was majestic!
My only suggestion is the driveway needs bit fixing. Also will need a big signpost at the entry (for some reason my TomTom GPS will pick up 267 Bethells Rd)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very disappointed with stay at the Bethells Beach accommodation.
Website very outdated/misleading and the accommodation very expensive for the experience.
Have stayed at numerous places for weekend breaks and these have varied in prices from $150 -$240 per night .. we paid $240 per night here and felt very let down.
Cleanlines was very poor ... bed had not been changed from previous guests.
Bathroom floor filthy
Chairs in kitchen so uncomfortable made eating dinner very hard.
View we thought we would have from apartment windows had overgrown plants ....
Not listed that apartment underneath main house so could hear homeowners moving around while we were relaxing which was very off putting...
Had asked for a late check out was informed had to be 11 sharp as others staying in room which we understood on leaving found out no one arriving till following day ...... couldn't understand why the lie....
Not enough shampoo etc to wash one's hair... despite all that was stated on website... fresh flowers again very disappointing....
Only highlight was we found John to be pleasant and welcoming he explained all the great things to do in the area.. even supplied some drinking water as mains not pleasant at present.
Unique location yes, romantic and relaxing it should have been ..... but instead left feeling robbed and very let down by the accommodation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a beautiful place to view sunset. 6 to 10 min walk from car park to beach. I didn't try whole walk away which will take upto 5 hours as per my reading. Defa going to do the walk and hike soon.
The view coastline is incredible with sunset. I just love it ??
