β β β β β Inexpensive lodgings just beside the ferry terminal. The room was quirky but could have done with a couple more power outlets.
Could only find one shower in the building and with the number of beds you might be in for a wait.
Kitchen facilities had plenty of plates/cutlery/mugs and was relatively clean.

β β β β β Great price ($20) for what you get. It's in an OLD post office building. The place definitely has character. You get exactly what you'd expect - plus free wifi. It's about a 2 minute walk to the ferry (to Stewart Island) from the backpackers. Very convenient. Plus, they were very accommodating when we needed to arrive late and leave early.

β β β β β Comfortable budget backpacker accommodation. Lex and Kay are very welcoming and friendly. We had booked the King Room which gave us our private bathroom. Good shared kitchen and comfortable guest lounge. Very short distance to Stewart Island ferry.

β β β β β The Lodge isn't too far away from anything, so being able to grab something to eat and then go to Stirling Point to eat is definitely possible. The beds are nice but there is a $5 charge for using the sheets on the bed so ideally bring a sleeping bag with you

β β β β β Great affordable place to stay for the night. I had a good night's sleep in the main dorm, single level beds not bunks. Kay, the manager is really nice. Does her utmost to help guests and make stay comfortable. Good place to meet other travelers too.

β β β β β I have stayed at Bluff Lodge twice now and loved it. A historic building, ideally situated for access to town and to the ferry terminal, with comfy beds and big common spaces to use. But the highlight is the host, Kay, who's just wonderful! She cares about every guest and goes out of her way to make sure you're comfortable and enjoy your stay. An absolute angel!

β β β β β Bluff Lodge is an excellent place to stay. It's in the Old Post Office - TAers should ask for the special room - high ceiling and heaps of space.
Kay the manager is helpful and friendly.
