Who we are:

We are not only the leading supplier of bottled gas in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, but we are also the oldest. It all started more than 20 years ago when Robert (Bob) Walker and his wife Joan noticed there was a gap in the market. A local identity, born and schooled in Whakatane, Bob could see that servicing the Eastern Bay from Auckland and Tauranga was not sustainable. In the early days big trucks without any tail lift, would travel from Tauranga, through Whakatane, around the coast and down to Gisborne in one run. They were literally throwing the bottles off on the side of the road, as they did not have time, and their trucks were too big, to traverse private tracks and driveways.

Starting off with just one truck and working part time driving and the rest of time in one of his other (varied) companies and employment roles Bob and Joan built the business up.

Now, with three trucks and a dedicated gas bottle trailer, Ron Woolerton with his wife Louise Saunders and family have taken up the challenge of meeting the needs for bottled gas in the Eastern Bay. Focused on growing the service range and delivery frequency Ron is looking forward to driving the business forward.

Safety of our staff, other road users and our customers is critical. To this end we are absolutely committed to ensuring our staff have the best tools and best training. There will be no “drop and run” option with Bobs Gas 2018 Limited. Every time we deliver a home of commercial LPG bottle for Genesis Energy we follow a very strict process of check, connect and check again. All bottle connections are spray checked for leaks after installation at your home or business.

Our modern fleet of trucks are serviced about 6 times per year, despite only travelling very low km’s and they are fitted with fully working tail lifts.
