★ ★ ★ ★ ★ not too tough a walk, possible to go up with kids / families!! about a 45 min -1 hour walk, really nice views from the top!! definitely worth going if you’re looking for a easy hike. connects to loads of other tracks through summit road too!!! if you’re too tired you can take the gondola down

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bridle path track is a bit steep and challenging. But fun the views are amazing. You can see lyttleton port from the top.
Two and half kilometers. Takes about an hour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great walk with beautiful views the whole way. We climbed over from the Lyttleton side and caught the bus back from outside the gondola.
Note: this walk is pretty steep from both sides and as such I wouldn't recommend for either the really young or really old.

there is a steep walk up the rocky hill side, called "The Pipe Line" (due to the fact you follow a pipe all the way up the hill)
The Bridle Path is the path to the right of it, if you walk further up and around.
Connects up and over to Lytellton.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Definitely difficult for a beginner or someone unfit. Not very long but very steep and felt like it never ends. Took 3 hours to walk up and then take the Gondola down. Walk took much longer than the 45mins posted signage.
