★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shocking, booked a room online (late) for brother traveling around New Zealand, only to have him show up and be told room not available.. need to ensure online booking portals updated. Very disappointing as we grew up at Beachlands and Maraetai with brother wanting to show his new American bride where we grew up and what we did as kids at Shelley Beach!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely historic house. The couple who manage the separate B and B cottage as well as two rooms in the house were superbly hospitable. The put on superb breakfasts, enjoy visitors' company, provided comfortable beds; they went out of their way for us. Spacious garden surrounds add to the experience. There are several local areas which are good to visit such as Huana Ranges and Falls, and Omana Regional Park. A nearby ferry takes people into Auckland, a pleasant way to avoid the road traffic.
