★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place was quite a find. It's not an auspicious name but the food is great, a very hearty style that appears to be from western China eg, Szechuan style. We've just had the noodle soups so far but they have been very tasty and big sizes for a reasonable price.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ China Wok Restaurant is an absolute gem. Authentic dishes, it's cheap and cheerful and always full (when I've been there anyway). Every dish I've had has been delicious! Highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Looks can be deceiving. But do not let this put you off. From the outside, this restaurant does not look inviting, with its plain interior and white industrial fluorescent lighting. And there are two whiteboards on the wall with menu items scrawled in mostly Chinese. But I'm so glad we went in. Don't be worried about the menu items on the whiteboards, as they have a normal menu folder with pictures and descriptions in both Chinese and English. Delicious food, excellent value for money. I really like that they don't over salt their dishes like too many Chinese restaurants, which is great because you can always add salt at the table if you wish. Friendly service, English is good enough to get by. Hint: It's not on the menu but don't be afraid to ask.. a delicious and healthy off-menu option is to ask for stir fried fresh veges in garlic sauce ( Bok Choy when we were there).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant could be one of the best Chinese restaurant in Christchurch. They are really good on spicy food especially thier spicy roast fish.
This time I try their new spicy and pickles chill roast fish, which is give me full of supise. Mostly the meal here would be a little be heavy on oil but this time not.
Highly recommend !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We are inexperienced in Chinese food but were taken there by a Taiwanese friend. It was extremely simple and quite small - but the first thing we noticed it was full of Asian people. The food was wonderful and very well priced. Now that we have been introduced to it we will go back. Thank you.
