About Collective Hospitality Ltd

Semele’s passion for the last twenty years has been to build great businesses and teams that touch the hearts and minds of people by delivering world class experiences in hospitality and events.

With a family history of passionate foodies and artists Semele believes life and business are a work of art. A journey of finding joy and growth through balancing bravery and love, instinct and strategy, people and patience and shining through it all with authenticity and grace.

She has been the co-founder behind more than fifteen start-ups, building businesses and brands from the ground up including Collective Hospitality, The Wharf, Orakei Bay and I Want Orange.

Semele’s philosophy is to identify and develop talent, build momentum and a culture of integrity, excellence and growth. She has a Bachelor in Visual Arts with a major in photography and filmmaking. She is a certified Kundalini yoga instructor with a deep love of nature and creating joy and wellbeing.

She is also a founder of the global art project ‘Peace in 10,000 Hands’ to further generate the conversation for peace and selling artworks to raise funds to further peace through children’s education.

I have worked with the team at Collective on several of my events and every single time they have been professional, friendly and provided me with both amazing staff and beautiful food. I work in a not-for-profit organisation in the hospitality industry so working with a flexible caterer who can still produce quality of food is crucial. Martin, Michael and their team are brilliant and I would not hesitate to recommend them or work with them again.

Collective Hospitality catered and supplied wait staff for our Engagement party on Saturday, and we were all blown away by the quality of food and service. Julia and the team went over and beyond to ensure we could enjoy our special day stress-free, and we can't thank them enough for it.

Thank you so much to you and your fantastic team for all you did to ensure everything went smoothly, looked amazing and tasted delicious. We were really pleased with the menu –all our guests commented on the canapΓ©s and every course. They also commented on the excellent service – your team were charming and most attentive. It was lovely to be able to have a dinner of that quality in the privacy of a home; it made for a really special evening, and I felt everyone was buzzing from the moment they arrived because it was all so beautifully done. Thank you so much again, and I hope we will have further opportunities to work with you.

Excellent food but due to several quoting mistakes and poor management it made our wedding day far more stressful then it needed to be. I would definitely not recommend this company for a wedding, if you want stress free then find someone else! Almost ruined our event!

Added extra costs days before my wedding which could have been planned for months in advance. After servers walking around offering drinks constantly, tried to tell me that everyone was too intoxicated and wanted to call security and charge me for it. The venue owner was called and she agreed that no one seemed intoxicated at all. Caterers were told to leave early to avoid more issues and everything went great after that. They did refund for unworked hours and food was nice.

Worst food I have ever eaten. Ruined a couple's engagement and took no responsibility. Returned them $1K after taking 17K+ for awful food. They probs returned 1K that was remaining from their bar tab and pretended it was an additional $500 out of good will for feeding guests such gross food. I would never trust this company after what they did. They think their sous chef is god's gift to earth and would not even listen to any of the complaints. You are better off spending 17K+ at Denny's for good food. Do not ruin your hard earned money here because you think the wharf is such a beautiful venue. People will only remember the insult you give em with that kind of food.

Ruined our engagement with awful food and making excuses through email. Never seen my fiance cry like that. She has depression and anxiety and has just got more worse after our guests were upset with the food. She blames herself for choosing collectives and is really anxious to even go ahead with our wedding planning as she lost all faith in herself. The company did not take this seriously and only sided with their pretentious chef. I am really hurt about all of this. Did not think a big company with some good reviews could do that to us. What a pity. The food at tasting was divine but what you fed us on our actual engagement was horrible. You justify he is a sous chef. Does that mean he will always make good food? We have asked all our guests to comment on the food to open collectives eyes. Because they are very blinded. Service was really bad also I will never recommend

We were having a very relaxed meal in the height of service, they had been run off their feet due to a new staff member not showing up when an employee in your uniform entered and started abusing the owner. We later found out this was the new employees parent who was unhappy about his daughter being let go for not showing up on her birthday. Not a good look for your company.
