I've found it to generally be cheaper than New World eg bought pears and kiwi fruit today and having been to NW before saved myself about 50 cents per kilo on each... Also was surprised that their selection of NZ cheeses was better IMO including organic... Staff are generally pleasant and friendly

Positives: great staff, great prices, nice and tidy, nice and easy navigation. Negatives: car park, inside, and the registers are very small (not their fault but is a fact) and can get easily cramped and also the lanes can get congested but other than that it was a really good experience, will definitely be doing my shopping there from now on

Not the greatest store around, even for a Countdown. The offerings can be limited at times, though current supply chain issues are always a factor. The store footprint is small, which means the isles are narrow and cramped. Obviously, this isn't something store management have control over, but you'd think head office might have been a bit more selective when choosing a site. There about four checkout lanes, but only one or two are ever staffed. This can lead to long lines and frustrated customers sometimes. It’s always a tough choice trying to find the right supermarket. In this town, there are only really two, maybe three choices. There is a movement to support local, and without getting into the politics of it, you’ve got to remember this is a part of an Australian owned corporation. There is no local kiwi, owner (unlike Foodstuffs stores – New Worlds and Four Square). Sure, they bring in jobs for some locals, but maybe we need to be really looking deeper into what we want our communities to look like and how we bring in prosperity to our smaller towns in New Zealand. Maybe there will be a return to the boutique, specialist shops – Harringtons Small Goods is a rare example of a community style butcher in Otaki that’s managed to survive to this day in the face of competition with the big boys. Anyway, that’s not up to me, but all of us. Food for thought anyway.

Decent little spot. It was very compact, but it had all the bascis plus enough to keep you satisfied with a vast variety of products. The fruit, produce and meat all looked fresh and well kept; no browning to be seen which is always a positive. The staff were friendly and were able to quickly point me in the right direction being my first visit here. Overall a great little countdown to meet everyday needs
