★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Parking space for approx. a dozen vehicles. Not sealed but upgraded in 2017 with loose stone surface.
Use this carpark to access the walking (incl. off leash dog walking), mountain biking and (occassional) horse riding tracks in the forest as well as non-vehicular access to the McKenzie Trail (dune path to Himatangi).
Special gates prevent access for motor bikes but unfortunately also wheelchairs etc. Paths in forest and dunes not suitable for wheelchairs or wheeled zimmer frames.
Park right next to an excellent grass field which is surrounded on 3 sides by mature trees, thereby providing shade at most times of the day for picnics or simply lazing about.
At the end of the park is a dune path that leads to the beach - up and down and quite long so not good for the elderly or the very young (toddlers).
