β β β β β *amazing* place to stay. highly recommend! lovely, clean & cosy, very comfortable. the best showers i've ever had in NZ.. hands down! very friendly owners, darren & renae are super nice and accommodating, they will tell you where to go and even help people find jobs in the area. great location in the center of town, within walking distance from everything i needed (grocery, post office, i-site, lake, wineries, etc). even a great aquatic centre just across the road to have a swim and lots of local gyms that are 24 hr. affordable bike rental too, you can even rent bikes by the week. will def stay here again !!

β β β β β This place is awesome! The communal room is not that big, but it has nice couches, some guitars, a keyboard, a tv and a hell a lot of dvd's. The rooms are not small, the beds are clean and the kitchen is big as well, with a lot of cooking utensils either. The host is very friendly, although sometimes a bit chaotic and somethimes he starts to drink to early in the afternoon to be sober in the evening...

β β β β β Darren is the man! He runs an awesome hostel. I ended up staying here like a month and a half because it was so fun to chill and learn guitar, play the xbox, hang out with the people. Kitchen, bathrooms, everything super amazing. Super clean.

β β β β β Good place to stay! I was there only for one night during my travel, if you like music there are a lots of instruments to play with.
The owner and his partner are welcoming and if you need they can help you find everything you need in the village. :)

β β β β β Amazing place to stay in, totally recommended as part of your journey through Central Otago. Nice and clean facilities, great environment, and for sure an opportunity to meet cool new people on the same vibe, travelling and supporting each other with advice in this adventure.Β Friendly and kind owner, always looking after his guest and making them feel comfortable and welcome.
You can find musical instruments in the lounge and varieties of games to play with other guests, as well as you can rent a bike or kayak and have a really good time while you are staying there.

β β β β β The people were friendly and the place was warm, the bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. The shower was nice and hot.
However thats where my good reveiw ends. I go by reviews when I choose places to stay. I know a 2 Star $33 a night place is not going to be the Ritz but I do expect it to be clean like the reviews say.The place was far from that.
This backpackers atm seems to be hosting more permanent people rather than tourists. The permanent occupants need to learn to read the multitude of signs scattered about the place and clean up after themselves. The 4 bed dorm was a mess and smelled of damp towels and lack of fresh air. The kitchen would definately not pass a Council health inspection and the bathrooms were not much better. I would not recommend this place.

β β β β β Stayed for one night over Christmas. Mainly being used by pickers, but still it wasnt clean and permanent guests seem to rule the house. Also noticed multiple holes in the ceiling including in the ladies bathroom which actually had a piece of plaster hanging from the ceiling. Also stinked and had mould in places. Council should do an inspection here.
