About EcoMatters Environment Trust
EcoMatters Environment Trust aims to connect people and place and to nurture kaitiakitanga (guardianship).
Based in TΔmaki Makaurau, Auckland, in Aotearoa New Zealand, EcoMatters is an established charitable trust that was formed in 2002. We work with and for the community to deliver environmental initiatives in partnership with key entities like Auckland Council, the Ministry for the Environment, other not-for-profits and community groups.
We do this by supporting the community with knowledge and tools to restore nature, grow food, reduce waste, ride and fix bikes, and live more sustainably. We also run workshops and provide opportunities for hands-on environmental action in Auckland.
Our main EcoHub – Te Whare Δhua is based at Olympic Park, New Lynn, a nine-minute stroll or three-minute bike ride from the New Lynn Transport Centre. You’ll find our EcoMatters Store, Bike Hub and Organic Teaching Garden here.
We also now have a growing network of community Bike Hubs across Auckland, as well as our Resource Recovery Depot on Moselle Avenue in Henderson and a second teaching garden in nearby Riverbank Road.

β β β β β I have been involved with Ecomatters for around 8 years it's a great place I originally built the cycle hub Ecomatters have a great bike service to help you fix your own bike and they service them as well they have a brilliant native nursery its open to the public and the prices are very reasonable there are plenty of services for everyone

β β β β β Very friendly staff willing to offer their very informative experience and help with your bicycles. Remember you yourself have to fix your own bicycle so it's a great way to learn with their personal guidence and direction.

β β β β β Amazing environment centre. Staff showed us around and it is fascinating. They have an Eco shop and also a free bicycle repair. Plus they grow and sell native trees and lots more. Well worth a visit!

β β β β β Me and my girlfriend traded in two bikes with the expectation we would get a discount on the bike we liked. They have since "lost" that bike, they were supposed to be finding it for us but have stopped contacting us about it. I imagine they have sold it on for full price. Beware when trading in.

β β β β β Awesome place of your lookig for a little help and a lot of knowledge on how to fix and work on bikes.
Just be warned its not a place to take your bike and have them do all the work for you, its a place to learn how to do the work for yourself

β β β β β Everyone was so helpful in helping to fix our bikes and for free, if you choose. Of course we donated some money as having to take our bikes elsewhere is difficult. It is such a valuable place to have and they have cheap 2nd hand bikes for sale and they aren't under pressure to sell them to you as it is a not for profit organisation. Give it a go as they are friendly and oh so helpful. Giving back to our community, WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND PLACE.

β β β β β The shop is now one of my favourite go to place for a tiny gift that is environmentally minded and not cost the earth! The lady there is really really nice so itβs not just the shop, itβs the connections you make with more like minded people.
Thereβs a lot that can be done and being inspired is one of those things that certainly come through when you go there. Thanks heaps guys and see you in the new year!
