★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Whats not to love about Fiordland - with the exception of the sandflies.
Access to the Electric River is by boat only. But even this has issues in so far as with Lake Monowai being raised for the Power scheme the amount of tree debris, stumps and mud flats makes some parts of the lake particularly difficult to access. Electric River is no exception. Could be done without to many problems in an inflatable or if a boat had a hydrolic engine lift to raise the prop up in the water but anything else might encounter difficulties. So my view of the electric river was from at least 70 - 100 metres from shore through being unable to get the boat in to land it.
Fishings pretty good there I hear.
